5.50's or 6.00's on 4.5x16 steelies?

I have a pair of 4.5 wide steel wheels that I would like to put on some 5.50s. Everyone seems to run 5.50's on 4inch rims not the 4.5s. Are the 4.5s too wide for my rims and am I going to have to run 6.00s? Any advice would help before I order my tires.

 

They will work just fine.

We used to run VW 5.60X15 tires on anything from 4" to 6" wheels with NO issues whatever.
