Looks good ,and i like those old mopars myself ,and someone who isnt afraid to make sparks fly.Good work my friend...
That's awsome and I like the skirt idea too. I'm not too crazy about that running board looking thing though.
very good execution brother. if i saw this thread a year ago, i1d still own my 49 plymouth 4 door.....
Good lookin CHOP! I,ve chopped a few myself!!!! As I was lookin at the pic,s , I must ask? In the front, a lot of the time, or usually it has to be widened in the center because of the inward slant on the post or split the curves on each side! Did you Cheat & lean the post in toward the center or what? Pickle Dilley
For some reason this one didn't need it it was only about 1/2" out on either side of the posts. I just pie cut the top corners of the window and gave a little tug.
They throws the skirts off that's what I wasn't sure about with the skirts. The sides need more tweeking, They need to get a cut out in the back and my exhaust is going to pop out of. I'm going to rework the front part yet don't really like the way they look.
An old thread here i guess, But geez, sure wish I could drive out to manitoba and convince you to treat my 49 plymouth 4dr the same as you have done here. I'd love to chop mine, but have no experience welding. and though I dont mind experimenting, the potential to ruin a car is too scary for me to try. Great work on yours!
just need to pop this one back to the top. Not sure if you still have the car or are still on here but would love to see what you have done with it since. . . if anything. thanks!! Gives me hope someday for my 49 4 door josh
Hi Josh, Just checked out your 49 4 door. Wow! beautiful car man, havent seen one that straight in awhile. would love to see some pics of the interior (do you have any up on here?) any plans for this car? Franklyn
Don't waste your time reversing the rear doors OR the front doors. You have done a magnificent job of actually making a silk purse out of a sow's ear! The roof line is great. On the small down side, the side exhaust doesn't help the car at all. The original stainless sill moulding, or a different one, would be the ticket across the bottom in my estimation. The skirts would work if they were the outside mount style with a little more "pizazz" than those fillers. Again, reat job, hope you finished it and have been enjoying it.
I've actually since sold the car to a friend who has straitened it all out real nice. Going to have to get some pictures from him as he's done a great job on it this is the only pic that I have as he only go the car out last this fall.
