Could somebody explain how to release the headlight switch knob from the headlight switch so I can remove it from the dash without wrecking it? please. thanks Jack
There should be a small knob on the switch under the dash that you push to release the knob and shaft as a unit.
Might depend what you're working on? Most of them have a little button on the switch, behind the dash...pull the knob out so the headlight switch is on, then push the button, the pull a little more on the knob and it will come out.
I am familiar with the small spring loaded knob style, this is different. I will see if I can post a pic of this switch today.
Not a great picture here, but it shows the slot. You need to stick the tip of a pocket screwdriver there and slightly pry back a brass spring...then rotate knob while pulling. Nearly impossible to figgerout by groping... file:///C:/Users/blancast/Downloads/Ford_Light_Switch%20(2).pdf
if you look up at the bottom of the light switch you will see a small slot near the front of the switch put a small screwdriver in the slot and twist slightly and turn the knob a little to the left and pull, it should come out of the switch with the shaft attached
