    Hey guys,
I'm trying to change the water pump on my '49 and I can't seem to separate the fan from the pulley. I've taken the four bolts out but it won't budge. I can't see anything about it in the w/shop manual, but figure someone on here would know.

It's just stuck from being on there for a long time. Try all of the usual methods like heat and BFH.

There is a centering pin on the waterpump hub. 1/2 " in diameter
It cteates a snug fit for the fan and pully. Add time and corrosion it becomes tighter.

Spray a some pb blaster on it and soak overnight.

Put a prybar between the pump and pully apply medium pressure and tap fan hub with a hammer .
    This induces a harmonic
    Wave that pops them off

    180 the fan and repeat.
    May take a few rounds.

Btw if the radiator is still in
Put a cardboard or similar sheet between the fan and radiator or you will risk damaging the rad.

    Good luck

Sure enough, I put some WD40 on it yesterday afternoon. I wailed on it with a rubber mallet for about 10 minutes this morning and it came straight off! Cheers fellas!
