49-54 chevy spindles

i've heard that the factory uprights on a 53-54 chevy car will lower the 49-52 cars about an 1". is there any truth to this?

 

No the truth is closer to 2 inches. the first photo is a 49 the center is a 54, look at the distance from the eyelet to the center divot

the distance is doubled. you raise the wheel and lower the car too

 

I have a couple of sets, they look to be a little over 5/8 of an inch. Hope this helps.
