I keep seeing this mentioned here. I don't think I ever saw one. I think we called then Fastbacks or maybe something like Sedanette? I thought Fleetlines were different...
Fleetline is Chevrolet's name for the fastback body styles they made from '46-'52. I'm not sure if they used the term in '42. Styleline is the name for the notchback body styles, coupes, 2dr and 4dr sedans. Fleetlines came in 2dr and 4dr variants.
Pontiacs were Torpedo or Streamliner, Olds used Club Sedan, Cadillacs & Buicks were Sedanette - people pronounced it differently some places. Buick used Jetback for a while, too.
got one of those in the garage as we speak. It is going to be a radical custom when it is finished. We took 1 3/4" out of the roof, dropped the body 4 " over the frame ( S-10 front clip, custom back half). The tail lights are from a 99 Mercury Sable. Just about everything on this car is fron scratch. The fleetline body style is one of my favorites
I parted out one but kept the roof and back clip, hope to find a 53-54 two door with a post to mate it to someday.
Theres one custom 54 fleetline that was at the Wheels of Time show in PA. last year.....WOW is all I can say, the work he put into it was fantastic.....lots of welding and piecing together the fleetline and 2 dr sedan body ......sorry I dont have any pics.....maybe someone from the hamb has one to post......stan
