    Hey Guys,
I need to fit a new steering column to my 50 Merc and was wondering what length steering column is fitted to your Merc?

    Cheers

Thanks, any chance of measuring it.
I have a column in mine but it's not original and I would like to know a measurement.

I can measure mine tomorrow. It's out of the car. Where exactly do you want to measure? The steering column from the top of the steering box to the steering wheel?

    That would be great.

I would just like to know from inside the firewall to the top of the column below the steering wheel.

    Thanks heaps.

The dimension you're looking for, from the firewall to the bottom of the steering wheel is about 28 inches, or 71.1 centimeters or 7.11 decimeters or 711 millimeters or 0.711 meters or 0.000711 kilometers. You guys use the metric system, right?

I just love these threads where you have to drag the information and the real question out of the OP. :D

  10. Mine was 28"+/- but I cut it down 3 inches or so to get the wheel closer to the dash.

    Thanks mate,
I bought one today. It is 32" but I can slide it in or out through the firewall.
My power steering box is mounted at the front of my chassis rails.

I will post some pics soon.

    Cheers
