Is there an easy way to convert the 48 ford sedan from 5 X 5.5 to 5 X 4.5 drums and keep the original spindles? I am keeping drum brakes all the way around but switching to a 58 ford 9 inch in the back which has the car(5 X 4.5) bolt pattern. Thanks in advance.
You should be able to have a good machine shop drill the hubs for the new pattern. There should be plenty of meat since you are going down in diameter. You might be able to find one already modified if you put an ad in the wanted section (be sure to put one on fordbarn.com also). If it was me I would just get a wheel adapter and carry one spare.
