I am thinking of using a 48' Ford Flathead 6 in a Model A and wanted to know what trans works good on these and also if they are worth the time and effort? Any help would be great!

As long as it is the "HA" series engine with the side mounted distributor they were a good reliable engine in there day. Pretty much would run with a flatty V-8 both stock. Parts are getting harder to find, was some speed stuff made for them. Manifolds mostly and heads [rare nowdays]. Same trans combinations as used with the V-8s. If open drive is in the plan a 5 speed with say 4.11 rear axle will give good acceleration and still have a relaxed cruise.

I worked with a guy who ran them in stock cars back in the late 50's and early 60's. He loved them.
