Hi All, I need some help, and I hope you guys and gals can give me some ideas, and maybe post some exapmle photos to help me out. I need to start doing the metal work on the from of my pickup, and I need to decide weather to keep the stock grill opening and find a creative way to fill it since the stock grill is not to great looking. Or I can modify the mouth to fit a different grill or I can add teeth or whaever. The roof is back on, the motor runs, and I have almost made my mind up on what wheels to go with, so I almost have the concept in my head. The one photo from the front with the mouth visable is before the chop, and the other three are after starting the chop to give you all an idea of what I am going for. More info can be seen at http://www.southbaysupply.com/project_dodge.htm Thanks, -Sobastrace Looking for Y Block Speed parts, Desoto 276 speed parts, and a 20's touring car tub in so. cal. for my next project.
Here are two ways to go: The first takes two 1955 Dodge lower grille bars (available in chrome) and just stacks them in the opening. And a pic of the '55 Dodge truck to show what to look for. I think some '50-53 Olds scoops under the headlights would look good too, but I did not have a pic to use. That would fill in the long space and lead the eye down to lower the "face" visually The second uses a '51 Chevy grille and bumper. I don't know if this would work in steel in 3D, but it is interesting. The pic is unfinished and a bit fuzzy - sorry about that.
I'm thinking 47 or 48 chevy car grille or keep it in the family and do a 47 ish mopar.(again car grille)
Thanks for the replys...... Jeff Allison (http://www.jeffallisondesign.com ) Suggested a 54 Nash Grill, but I have not been able to find and photos. He said it is about the same shape only smaler and it would just need a surround built to make it look perfect. So if any of you have any 54 nash front shots let me know so I can get an idea.
