47 ford coupe steering

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by mr. h, Mar 8, 2016.

  1. I've searched quite a bit and have failed. How in the hell do I adjust the steering wheel position on my 47 ford coupe. The shaft where the wheel attaches is not splined. The steering is not really sloppy but my ocd is killing me that the wheel is about 100 degrees off

You will have to adjust the drag link and tie rod to get what you want. Start by centering the steering box and steering wheel. Then adjust the drag link and see if you can get the wheels straight ahead. If that can't be done within the range of adjustment, you could have bent parts affecting the situation. Also, you will want to check your toe-in, though adjusting the drag link should not affect toe, but it may not be correct to start with.
