also made a pad for the brake pedal and started the disassembly of the ramp so i can finish some welds
i sure do enjoy tonight i have done all the welds that i couldnt reach on the chassis now its ready for paint next i will disassemble the chassis and remove the engine etc.
I really like this rivet nut idea, I need to use this on my build, where can I get these, thanks, GREAT build.......
I used the rivet nuts on my Diamond T to mount the fenders to bed and cab, but the cheap setting tool I got at the hardware store is only good for about a dozen of them, then it warped and wouldn't work any longer. I'm sure investing in a better one would give better results.
amazing I really like the way you are building this my only question I didn't see anything to hook the tie downs to on the bed
i didnt get to that part yet i have the tie downs and will put them on when i have the wood installed.
well pulled the motor today and power washed the chassis and started painting some parts, also worked on the Ls engine as you can see in the background but will not post pic's of this to stay save and hamb friendly (its just cleaning, paint and reassembly anyway) degreasing and prep for paint using RustOleum Combi color high gloss black
Wish I was at this point . Looks nice sander and you can come and use my pan break any time . LOL Blue
thanks for letting me use your pan break , but i see its a little to cold and to much ice for me to come over now today did some more chassis painting and painted the engine too and glassblasted the alu parts

I still say it's cheating to have a shop with a high ceiling, a rolling hoist, a paint booth and multiple sets of hands (HA! - yes I'm GREEN with jealously)
my dad got the chassis painted today, and tonight we put the ramp frame temporary back on the chassis to paint the top part, will remove it once more to install the engine/trans. and glass blasted the trans case and looks new again (sealed off all openings to prevent glass from getting into the transmission) and put the engine back together a bit more, next is thing is cleaning up the intake also ordered the stainless steel sheets for the side panels of the ramp. looking forward to drill a zillion more holes and install rivet nuts
got the engine back into the chassis and the ramp frame too in front of the chassis you can see a pallet on the ground with the stainless steel plates, ready for the next step
What are your plans for the wiring harness? Are you going to use the one from the donor vehicle or buy one..? Where are you mounting the ecm? Sent from my Verizon 4G LTE smartphone
since i have compressed air on board, i figured why not opperate the parking brake by air too ? i have a 2/2 valve / switch that i will go under the dash next to the valve i have for the vent doors also cut the ehaust flange's from the original system with the oxy sensor and my dad is working on the cab sanding sanding............. oh'' and no these are not the final colors this is just a pre color
My hat is off to you sir. I is great to see that you really took the time to show how you are doing things. This will most definitly help some of the new builders to our hobby with the ability to tackle something that might not have seemed possible. Looks great and I cannot wait to see more updates.
cut some side panels to size 4 of the 8 per side test fitted the rear piece and rolled the tip in the rear.
making some stainless steel exhaust tips tig welded them together and made a ring around it of steel that later will be painted in color and the tips will be polished i didnt decided yet where they will go in front of the fenders or behind it ??
WOOF!!!! This thing is turning out so crazy cool!! (and those exhaust tips are bitchin'!!!!) and now you're heading in for the final assembly.....Woo-Hoo!!! (I'm right behind ya!!) Glued to this build!!
Personally i like having the exhaust exit in front of the axle where practical, it saves a lot of hassle going over the rear axle. Of course part of that is because most vehicles have the fuel tank and/or the spare tire in the back. It helps in your case that the fuel tanks are side mounted. Sent from my Verizon 4G LTE smartphone
