LBCD,

Are the '41 fenders a direct bolt-on to the '46 or are there modifications required to make that work?

mine has been chopped and channelled. i have enough headroom to section it also but that would open up a can of worms. the hood just closes now so pancaking the hood is out. fenders are welded to the body, in the process of molding them in. there's a narrowed nova front clip and a desoto hemi sitting as low as i can go without the exhaust manifolds hitting the frame. wish i could though. that car is beautiful.

 

No mods, all bolted on no problems. I was told that the 41 roof was a bit wider due to the 41 headliner bows did not fit. They were too wide and I had to shorten them and modify the ends to work with the 46 roof line. Also, the cowl vent is a different set up and I had to modify that too. Other than those 2 things the bodies are almost the same.

It's chopped and may be channeled but it sure doesn't look to be sectioned.

 

This car has been in the family for 40 years. My parents drove me home from the hospital in is. The story behind the unusual paint job is that dad didn't have enough money to paint the whole car grey, so the painter painted the fenders with what was left over from a '52 MG roadster he had just painted.

 

Not super hot rodded but I just got the scallops done. This pic is in the pinstripers driveway. Chris Hay in Des Moines, IA
