I saved this 41 Ford Tudor from being crushed. Someone else started the chop, not me. It's drivetrain is complete from the trans back, except the rear spring is gone. They didn't get the doors chopped and some of the chopped pieces are laying inside.

Haven't decided what to do with it now as I really don't need more projects. Thinking about parting it out.

I have a bunch of pictures but they are too big to post. Any tips on resizing the pictures?

  6. Man.. I'd find another top and start over. That could look pretty slick, chopped, but you have to cut it like a 49-52 Chev Fleetline, through the C-post into the trunk opening... which is probably why the last guy gave up on it.

Or, find a rotty convertible and use it as a parts donor to make one with this as the foundation -

I would do something like Brewsir did, with the carson top. That Mercury he had looks insanely slick.

"One option is to build it as a Pheaton. Weld up the trunk, cut it all down,
and build a removable padded hardtop out of fiberglass and conduit.
Raise the fenders, section the hood, and channel the body. And have
    fun !
    "

with that much work he could fix the chop and itll look 10x better than a pheaton styled ride.

Here's what I did back in 96' to my 41 that a tree had fell on the top.

    It has a mustangII 5.0HO with a C-4 and a 8" from a granada.

It is a blast to drive around....

  19. It's just old Ford steel. The easy way out would be to build it as a phaeton and make a fiberglass top, as someone else said. Not everyone's cup of tea... but you could drive it that way and track down a coupe or sedan delivery or something that has bad floors and so on and meld the two together later on.

And you could probably make a top from a 4dr work if you wanted to redo the chop right. Or at least cut some filler panels out of it.

  20. What ever way you go this is an excellent opportunity for a metal clinic. I'll be interested to see how you puzzle this out.

'MO thats a sweet example, but for me personaly it wouldnt be about the easiest way out. I wouldnt know personaly how easy or hard it would be to fix that top but I would figure it out with time.

  22. I think unless you honestly if you REALLY want one of those thats a convert or chopped, buy another, and use that one for parts. You can pick 41-48 tudor sedans up all day for under 1000.00 that have nice bodys. I paid 1200.00 for my 41 2 years ago. No engine or tranny. I built a flatty, found a three speed, cleaned up the interior, new glass, dropped axle, tires/wheels, ect. This is some before and after shots. The car is a daily driver for me.
