I went to swap my wheel to a reproduction '40 wheel and found that there is a gap between the wheel and the column. Poking around online and I think that the issue may be that I have a "flat" truck column instead of a car column that has more of a "bell" at the top.

The banjo that was on the car has a flat bottom, while the banjo has a .5" neck.

    Questions:

Is this due to the column difference as I suspect (can't find any good references with photos so far), or is it the gap due to the difference of a reproduction wheel ?

What column do I have ?

Any wheel recommendations ? I am contemplating either a collar, machining down the wheel hub, or going to a different wheel.

Someone placed a ball bearing ass'y on your column at some point.

It's been a long time since I redid that same column, but I recall Ford had a fiber or rubber bushing slightly below where your bearing is

Thanks - I checked and you are correct. I'm going to look for the ford parts to put it back to stock.
