Apparently it's got a camaro clip up front. I'd rather it had been original but I don't mind a little creature comforts. The sofa isn't too pretty in there and I agree that there's a change needed there too.
'41 Chevies are beautiful, even unchanged. I love customs, but this one (from Kustomrama), done in 1961, is just about as nice as any other. If you do get it (hopefully), just make it run, make it safe, and enjoy it while thinking about what changes to make later.
Bit of a sleepless night. Quiet busy in the mental shop, cutting, sanding, filling, changing fluids. Swear I'm worn out this morning. before the construction begins, some other work is in order. Change the fluids and the owner says there's a vacuum leak he can't find. I'll get more details on that and try to isolate it. Then it'll be run around the block a little and then start pecking at things. First thing is the stance. I see it has blocks already from a picture but can't tell how big. 3 inch is the magic number out back, the front, we'll let's get it on solid concrete and see what I can do. Then it'll be tires and skirts to accommodate any additional lowering I need to do. Most likely the belt line trim is going to go and the trunk handle will get shaved and liscence plate relocated. That should be enough for the first week.
I agree but I've been reading about camaro srop spindles rubbing on wheels. It could be the drivers are running big fats up front, I don't know. Right now it's drums all around and apparently have about 30 miles on since install. I think you have to switch out to disk on all drop spindles. On old fords and chevs, I've changed out to are star coils or cut out the lower spring cup and reinstalled with 1 inch lowering blocks. Both have given great rides and doesn't change the geometry. I need to see the camaro front end to know that I can do. On my 60 olds, I switched out with 1968 firebird 400 coils. It dropped it 3 inches, improved the ride and tightened up the sway.
Haveing a clip like that gives you a lot to work with good steering good brakes and simpler engine swap. It’s a win win Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Scooter has a nice black '41 coupe, slightly lowered with tan steelies. Hopefully he'll post some pix.
I’m running 17’s it gives me clearance for 13” rotors. Stops perfect. It’s not a heavy car but rides fantastic. I always make super drivable then cosmetics. See too many starts and no finishes Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Slobber. where there's smoke there's fire. Driving 350 mile tomorrow to look it over with cash in hand. I couldn't last till monday. Fingers crossed.
I would have left already. Check numbers. Data plate under pass side front seat under rug. A lot of different letters for same model. Likely AH or I’ve seen AA. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hey looking forward to seeing your progress. Here's mine. I ultimately would like to build a non adjustable suspension taildragger (Chopped, skirts, custom early 50's hubcaps) but not sure if I'll ever get there. This is the day it was delivered to me in April 2014.
Added spider cap/ rings, chrome bumpers, and louvered the hood and trunk lid. Has a small block 283 and 4spd on the floor with a HAMB #41 Shift knob . 4" drop in the rear, and up front I cut 2-1/2 coils from the springs.
Nice I’m looking into chop. They are very comfortable. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
'41 is one of my favorites. No one else has asked, so I will. What's that "box" on the fire wall? Good luck.
Looks like a crude attempt to hide wires in a conduit. Industrial way of cleaning up engine compartment. Probably wrong. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Looking at that hood again, there must be some heavy mud action going on or some major shrinkage to get rid of the rib up the center of that hood.
Thinking of taillight treatments, has anyone seen a part of pre60 vette taillights installed in the fenders. Just looking at them wondering if the angle is right.
