this is the beginning of my budjet build of my 41/46 chevy truck. thought i was getting two 41 chevy trucks, but looks like one is all im gonna be able to do between them both. cab on one is beyond saving. but for $250 for the pair, i have enough to start. started digging in yesterday and getting dirty when i found this out. hopefully will be able to get more into it this weekend. The trucks are parked in my in-laws back yard right now so I can't just hop out back and dig in like i would like to. Looking to get the front that is already off to the house and up on a stand this week so i can start sanding the rust away and get some primer down on it so it doesnt get worse.

$250 seems like a decent price and the extra parts could come in handy down the road, good luck with your project!

thanks. the guy is in his early 70's and realized he just could get to all his projects. he also sold the 54 chevy in the background of my avatar for $250. he still has a pair of fleetmasters (late forties, early fifties) he said he has a few more parts to pull for his in the shop, but is gonna sell those too.

  4. :) Congratulations on the purchase. Let the fun and work begin. First things first. There is lots of "clutch head screws" on these trucks and Snap On tools should be able to supply you with necessary tools. Being that it's this rusty, remember this, "heat is your friend", a small torch will be real handy in heating up stuck screws to red hot for easier removal.

works been slow on the trucks lately. Ive got the hood 90% sanded down and primed. took a closer look at the 46's serial# tag and found the rest of the number hidden under a little rust. Got the clutch head socket a couple of days ago, so can start tearing down when i get an actual day off. lol been watching craigslist and found someone with a complete motor, radiator and bumper off a 49-51 for $150. picking them up Sunday. She said she has some other stuff she might sell in the barn, so I'll be taking camera and let ya know what i find. hopefully it will be something i can use on my trucks!

well picked up the motor yesterday. it was a complete motor except generator. I got starter, carb with air cleaner, fuel pump with glass bowl still intact, water pump is still on the motor, distributor and cap, hell, the clutch was still there with the bellhousing! motor turns over nicely couldnt be happier. but now I have a radiator for sale. I will post pics of it and put in the classifieds prob wednesday, unless someone pm's me before wanting it. thinking of $20 plus ride. also ended up with a cross member, fan shroud for thew radiator, chrome bumper, and bumper brackets. bumper and moter is mine but the other stuff is looking for a good home. I was told they were off a 49-51 chevy truck, so if you know anyone looking, let em know i got em. hope to get motor cleaned up tomorrow for better pics but here is the one i took with my phone yesterday when i got it home.
