Now that is a great motor for the new sedan. You are really moving along on your project. Cobo Hall?

Didn't plan on having it done for Cobo, so no. Although if progress continues, this thing might be a runner next weekend.

    Great project, and beautiful engine.
My question is - the belt on the drivers side water pump has very small overlap. Doesn't it need any idler to avoid spinning?

Ideally, it would be better to have more belt wrap on the water pump pulley. This belt does have really good retention on that pulley though - I can't rotate the pulley by hand when there is tension on the belt.

I do have my temperature sending unit on that bank, so I'll be able to monitor it for any cooling issues.

One question. IIRC, the earlier V8-60's had transmissions that were quite a bit "lighter-duty" than the 85HP cars. Is this also true of the 40's, or did they use the regular transmission?

The '40 V8-60 trans carries a different part number, but I believe that is only because the starter mounts closer to the centerline of the crank due to the smaller diameter flywheels.

That said, a '40 V8-60 trans is equipped with the same gearset of the 90hp car.

Well the engine is all wrapped up. The carbs still need some tuning, but it's not too bad for just out of the crate from H&H!

I also pulled the back fenders off and installed some new welting because the old stuff was looking pretty bad. I need to pull the rear bumper so I can install new rubbers still.

The front sheet metal will probably go back on tomorrow, which means this thing is getting close to being driver status.....
