I'm pretty sure I remember the answer to this question, but.....being a geezer, I don't fully trust my memory. I have a 40 Ford gearbox...tranny, in excellent condition. I also have located a bare 1939 case. My question is will all the internals from the 40 pop into the 39? I can imagine some replies suggesting I do this or that, but this is not my question. I am firmly set on swapping. If not feasible, I will fabricate a floor shift conversion for the 40 box. By the way, this a GREAT site. LOTS of useful info.
Thank you. I was pretty sure having done the double research with parts manuals. THank you, Mike. Very much appreciated. Bill
If you decide to leave the '40 box in there, here's how to make a floor shift: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97533
