anybody put 40 front sheet metal on a 46-47 1/2 ton ?
I know a guy who tried it, he's a body man and he gave up. The frames are totally different and nothing mounts right. You can make anything fit anything if you try hard enough but I seriously doubt it would be worth the effort.
depends if you are talking about '40 passenger car or pickup sheet metal. The frame may be an issue, I don't know about that from personal experience. But I am using a '46 cab, which is the same as a '40 but for one small bracket on the firewall, on a Fatman '35 to '40 ('41 pickup) frame, and '40/'41 sheetmetal, fully expect it to work just fine.
I was told that the wheelbase is different on a 46-47. So you couild do it fairly easy if you put the 46-47 cab on a 40-41 pickup frame and then used the pickup front end from the 40-41.
I remember from previous posts that the lower cowl had to be modified to fit.
40 sheetmetal on a 46 frame would be going backwards wouldn't it? Wouldn't you rather have a 40 thean a 46?
