Double thanks. Really neat. I like them old songs. I am going to see if our Saturday nite cruise in DJ can play them. Ron
Thanks for bringing this stuff back to the surface ... I gave my copy of Barris's jacketless album" Custom city" car songs? to" WINGS" at back o the fifties a few years ago .. I have never seen the "jacket" for that album does anybody have a picture of it ..OKAY . carry on
I have heard the song "HOT ROD BABY" as a kid,my grandmother played piano for the soldiers at the USO in Columbia,South Carolina, she had no formal musical training but could hear a song once and play it almost note for note. I heard her play that song many times growing up,,it was cool to hear it again. As for the other three I had never heard them. HRP
I've heard three of the four, does that make me old? Perhaps being a musician helped. Thanks for posting
@Jive-Bomber Jay - I've heard all four songs as well ... not because I'm old ... but because I have stood in the Radiator Springs Racers queue You and your colleagues did a fantastic job gathering all of the historic automotive related artifacts and displaying them throughout the queue ... I enjoyed the long wait in line almost as much as the actual ride!
I had heard "Hot Rod Rag" on a mid-'30's recording by the Light Crust Dough Boys; excellent Texas Swing music. The Chevy Song ran a little long, but those are still fun to listen to if you like early string band or early country music. Thanx!
Great stuff! When I was a kid I remember hearing a song called,"Hot Rod Baby" by a singer called Coleman Wilson and I think it was on King Records. He had several songs having to do with driving;mostly truckers. Had to be early 1950's. Should probably check YouTube to see if he's on there.
I notice that there are a lot of prohibition images in the "Chevy Six" video. Are they implying something? Maybe the General could use that as a new image.
