Pretty cool ole ride, Im not opposed to 2 door conversions but I like 4 doors too, sometimes better than a 4 door thats been converted to a 2 door, yours looks nice, I would probably strongly consider leaving that belair alone.
Good luck with it whatever you decide, I like it!

If you do cut it, maybe get a hard top windshield (shorter), and chop the top to match?

Still stock other than the lowering and led tails but just thought I'd chime in. Some body styles work well with 4 doors, others do not. This car doesn't bother me too much anymore.

  4. that is way beyond my skill set! too much free hand fabrication, the two door conversion is more like square peg square hole, round peg round hole fabrication.

  5. i don't hate four doors as much as i used to, actually I can appreciate them when done nicely, but i have no need for the benefits of a four door vs a two door. i'm thinking some blocks in the rear and maybe skirts for now.

Best of luck with "nothing!" I approve, since I'm building a four-door custom too at the moment (a London Cab) and I drive an Amazon two door as my daily driver.

I've even entertained thoughts of customizing the Amazon. I'm imagining a reworked grille with a bullet like a shoebox Ford, some mild fender skirts, and a minor lowering job.

Our '58 Biscayne project, sadly some solvent did in that lace job by accident.

Heres 2 mild 4 doors that i built. You'll never get the money out of them for the time and headache you'll put into them. But if thats not a problem for you. Then build on.

Heres the only (kinda side profile) picture i could find... The car has been sold and traded a handful of times around the northwest. It is actually currently on portland craigslist for sale for a lot more than its worth.

Wouldn't want to change a flat tire on the back of that Coronet...

Looks like the rear sections bolt to the end of the lake pipes.

Didn't Jim Potter do photos of this? Wasn't this in eighties book 'Grease Machines'? (Potter photos all).

Shit I like that 3 door Merc. Rad!

    Inspiring thread.

  23. Yup, three bolts and its off. Removing the rear tires on this was already a chore after lowering it ( I swear these cars have the smallest rear wheel wells) so what's another 10 minutes?

I have the same issue with my Buick. Bags on the rear made it easier.

One more...(The teeth in the front scoops are silver table fork handles).

  26. Awesome, truly.. Imagine a build thread on that car.

BTW Background cars are tasty too.

Not a Fordor (or even three...;)), but since you mention it...

The same builder as the Merc also did this Ford. Workmanship on both were flawless.
Just check out the grafted Buick hood contours(!), and Olds dash.

I'm liking this. It's amazing how much difference shaving the door handles makes.
    The engine compartment looks "soup-er".

    Black body? Other plans?
