A friend of mine was the mechanic on this one, his Brother In Law was the driver, back in '56. The crash happened in the Trophy Dash, Ole Bob had it repaired and ready for the Main, which it won ! 19 Jr Bent.jpg

Fordors, pretty darn accurate discriptions of the cars and the players at the Detroit and Memphis 71/72 Nats. The neat looking low 34 sedan from Michigan was, I beleive, was Jack Peiknic's. Neat car, I believe was also sectioned. Jack has passed away, and I think your right, the car is still around. Bill Rinaldi.

    Killer shots Fordors!

Here’s the last of my stuff, at least in this picture format. Sorry I do not have the effort to ID the cars pictured but most are very recognizable!

Thanks for the compliment Bill. I can remember obscure details and names from long ago but not where my wife said we have to go tomorrow.

Thanks Anderson, much appreciated. Killer cars more than killer shots, but I was shooting with a Kodak Pocket Instamatic. Should have paid more attention to centering the subject:eek:

Fordors: Your pic’s bring back a lot of memories! The blown ‘34 roadster is Dick Patton’s award winner. I think the ‘32 three window that did a crash and burn was 394” olds powered. That root beer hemi one blew me away , every show I saw it at! E713B6DA-37B7-4E52-954E-0DEE8D214454.jpeg

Anderson was that T touring on the LA Roadsters stand John Montieros . I rode in that car in 1966, had about a 5.4 rear end and the engine was revving its ring off at 60 on the freeway. 327 and Muncie ended up in a 28 A tourer here in Oz, he swapped John a 28 tourer body for the engine and trans.

1970 ... $12.00 '49 98. A granny lady sold it to Jansson's Auto Wrecking when the points burnt shut. The shop where I worked took care of their wreckers, and they knew I'd buy, or at least strip most any "old" car. I put a set of points in it & it ran really well. Found receipt in glove box for hydro OH the year before. I took the beauty rings & radio ... gave the rest to ''John the mailman'' in the picture. 2 owners later, I had it back, and it ended up in Olympia with my buddy Nick . It was used in the filming of "Heart Like A Wheel", but that footage was cut out of the finished product. 10-23 pix 005.JPG

About 1979 ?? Nice '56 210 "Handyman" - I traded a whole Plymouth 6 set-up for it, Isky cam, Sharp head, Fenton headers, dual intake, and a new in the box Mallory. HAMB member ''Viva la hot rod''s dad is the current owner. 10-23 pix 020.JPG

1967 .... trip to Reno to visit Harrah's museum. This was sitting in a residential side yard. It's probably going to be recognized by a sharp HAMBer. 10-23 pix 001.JPG

1976 - 10-23 pix 004.JPG Girl friend at the time bought this from a retired teacher for almost nothing. I split the manifold, torched the springs & put 5.20 & 9.00 14s on it for her. Interior was flawless. Only car in town with red wheels & whitewalls.

'50 Merc my friend Nick rescued in '76, but had to sell before he could do anything. Made some $$ on it, though. 10-23 pix 010.JPG

Boise old timers might remember this "A" coupe. It was somebody's daily, and lived within a few blocks of 12th & O'Farrell. '32 grille, downdraft carb, metallic green & primer spots. I can't remember any other info - I was 15. Looks like dry brakes & a dropped axle ! 10-23 pix 014.JPG

Sitting alongside the highway outside Gooding, Idaho for many years. Tex Smith saw them & published a similar shot in R&C in the "vintage tin" column. 10-23 pix 011.JPG

If this is from Detroit in 72, that 40 coupe in the background looks like the one my dad has with the chromed outer grills. Car supposedly belonged to a Ford engineer at one time.
