Bought a rusty '37 Ford field pickup for $200 just for the 16" wire wheels...sold the front '40 brakes off it for $300...then traded straight up the rest of the carcass for this... 1957 Hillman Husky 3 door wagon, barn car...all original...lotsa cancer, but some really cool small-size bucket seats...a 43hp 4 banger with a 4 speed, 3 lug wheels...also...got to keep the 16" wires.
I actually have no plans for it...I just kinda fell into this whole deal...this all happened in the last 6 hours...thought about keeping the seats and flipping the rest...I don't know yet.
I wonder how one of those would run with one of those little 3 cylinder engines out of a Samari in it. or a toyota 2 tc baby hemi. Something small so you don't have to modify the hell out of the firewall.
Guy had a 61 hilman panel on craigslist in columbia mo couple months back wanted 6000 for it had a chevette engine in it was a complete running car..looked neat.
I got a buddy from taupe nz who has one of those was raced years ago running 10s with a 327 he is restoring it will try get some puts for you next time I'm up there
If you feel comfortable wearing large colorful bold print clothes, really big shoes, orange hair and a red bulbous nose, then I'd say that's the perfect car for you.
engineer to factory owner; you're not going to make that Hillman?...or....after it was built passenger to driver; you're not going to make that hill man.
Looks like it could be a curable stage of cancer...with the right Doctor. Cool car, hope it finds a home. . .
That picture of what I think is Chapouris's brothers car is a good harbinger of what should be things to come...
