It's been a long time, but do you use the Spark plug washers and the tubes? Or just screw the plugs in the tubes without the washers?

No washers. The conical shape of the plug will seal the tube.

  3. It is six of one, and half a dozen of the other. Neither way will make any difference...

If your running the 392 plug wires i'd use washers. if you have the adapters to run later model plug wires with the boot over the tube i'm not sure. I do have a perfect set of plug covers, valley cover and timing cover (minus fuel pump drive) i would sell

The shop manuals say no washers, Chr should know the answer!

  7. The original poster was referring to the gasket washers at the spark plug threads, not the washers that clamp the grommet a the top of the spark plug tubes.
