Has anyone replaced a Willys A pillars and cowl as one piece? Comparing the inner structure 38 to 42 are not any big changes, and have same shapes. Looks like the first 12 inches of the 4 door roof is the same profile need to swap it out as well.
I believe KIWI KEV did exactly the type of swap you are talking about on one his builds. There is a thread here on the HAMB about it. Found the thread. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/nasty-habit-willys-coupe-part-1-body-graft.236716/
My good friend did, there is a 39 coupe from the northeast running around with the cut going through the windshield and across the floor. If I recall correctly 38 Willys have different hood hinges, they go through the cowl at the sides were as 39 - 41 hinge at top of firewall and cowl area with a single piano type hinge. Pat
The first (of the fat Willys) 37 Willys had the hood hinges mounted in the cowl. By 38 and later they went with the single piano hinge in the center of the hood. The only other difference in cowls is the wiper mounting hole position. 37 - 40 had the wipers up top above the windshield. 41 and 42 had them on the bottom of the windshield. This is the most obvious way to know a real 41 or 42. The coupes and sedans shared the same cowl and a pillars so it is possible to cut and splice them. Again there is an exception, the 41 and 42 sedans actually had a larger windshield, (and different back end,) and would not be correct for a coupe or earlier car.

That's awesome, I didn't end up just doing the A pillar. Ended up having to do more. Have to finish a really rare car for my best customer, then back to work on my Willys
I notice between the roof of yours and the rear quarter is smooth as glass. Mine had over a 1/4" of lead from the factory. Did you cut out and replace?
Wait....did you need to use the front 1/2 of your sedan doors to match hinges? Coupe hinges were different?
