Well I'll call this round 2 as this project started as a '40 Ford Pickup, then this ute shell turned up, so the project shifted sideways, at the point of shift the money had been spent mostly on chassis and parts. So here's the plan as of now 1939 Ford Standard Ute channelled approx 4 1/2 inches 8BA eng, mostly stock just balanced mild cam, and down the track heads and twin carb manifold. Early stick shift box with 40's gears, open drive. '37 front end with disc brake conversion, '36 radius rods with locally sourced falcon diff (matching stud pattern) 16" mid 50's dodge wheels, x4 1/2" & x7" It'll be probably be closer to a beater than shiney, as we're on a budget and am keen to have it on the road. I'm without a hot rod, or old car for that matter at the moment so keen to be cruising again. Here's a couple of pics as it stands, the body is fairly good, however is missing all the floors, this is the main reason for pursuing the channel. The eng has been rebuilt and will be picked up in the next few days, Cheers P.S. will try to organise some where to host pics so they won't all be thumbs.
Glenn all the best with the build ,I know that it will turn out looking great...Rod. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
With all the T's, A's and V8's that Canada sent you, you could have done us a favor and sent us some Utes... I am jealous. .
I haven't got much to show, there's been a few distractions, with an OT air cooled car for my wife and getting the shed up to scratch along with family. Any way I've got the 8.ba back from being built, it's mostly stock, with a balanced bottom end, mild cam etc. It was pretty clean needing only 0.010 from stock in the bores and the crank was still on size. It'll end up with chrome acorns on the head studs and hopefully a close pattern 2x2 (so i can run a centre mount genny) Progress will be slow but I'll keep up dating here.
