39 or 40 Ford with wide rear fender pics?

Does anyone have any pictures of a 39 or 40 ford tudor or coupe with the 3" wider rear fenders? I'm contemplating getting some for my 40 so I can run wider rear tires. But, I'm not sure I'll like the look of them. In parts catalogs, they look like they are real odd shaped on the rear half. Any input on this would be great. Thanks.

I don't have any pics but I have seen it done. It looks really, really bad. Looks great on a 70's van though. That's my input and I'm stickin to it.

Now everybody can climb on and tell you it's your car and do what you want and s10's are traditional etc...

I have to agree with Dreddybear about looks. I bought them many years ago for my '40, and along with an odd look, the mockup initial fit was lousy. Luckily I got over the fat tire '70s look  and stayed with the stock steel fenders with narrower tires. JMO. :)

I know of one 40 around here with them. I will see if I can find a picture, but I am willing to bet you won't like 'em. I have never heard one positive comment on them. I sure don't like 'em.

Probably not the best examples considering the rest of the work done but you get the idea.

With the right combo of rear end width and rim size /offset you can get a decent size tire in the wheel well, I have 235x75x15's under mine and there is lots more room for larger. Unless you have tons of Horsepower that is all you need.

I looked at some pics of a local car the other night and I am not wasting the money. To me they just look ugly. I have 245/60/15s on it now and it doesn't look too bad. I think I'll leave it alone and concentrate on the many other things it needs. Thanks for the input guys.

  10. Excellent choice.

BTW...my '40 coupe has the following:

Granada 8" rear, 58" wide, outside to outside
    15x7 American TTO's with a 3 3/4 backspace
    235/70/15 Firestone Indy 500 Radials

I'm not a fan of the wider fenders, but here is a rear shot of a 40 coupe with them. They cut and narrowed the front part of the fender so that it aligned with the running board (like the stock fenders did).
