Hi to all ,been a while. The 39 Dodge is progressing well and I'm about to start on the engine rebuild.Have chosen to rebuild a 65 poly 318,(mad I know, but it will look great and give the Dodge character to burn,my opinion only, and have a small wish list to complete. So if anyone can help out it would be great.I know their like rocking horse sh--,but after a 4 barrel intake, also after engine mounts and a manual bellhousing.I would like to run a A833 behind the 318 or if anyone has any suggestions for a suitable 4 speed box please let me know. Thanks

Any tranny for a 340/360/318 LA will bolt on. 4 bl intakes are expensive, but cheaper now with the recession, 2X4 intakes are actually cheaper to buy. Keep an eye on the classifieds & EBay.

Hemmings is a good source for poly parts.

All A and LA, post-62, share bellhousing, flywheel etc. Same with engine mount brackets. This also includes the 3.9 v-6 (short 318).
The 3.7, 4.7 and 5.7 have the same bell pattern but different crank pattern.

You get extra points for using the poly!!

318 Poly's can be made to run strong. There was a story in Mopar Muscle a couple of years ago about a guy who did one fo rhis '64 Belvedere, and he called it a "mini max wedge", it ran so good. Info is out there. Moparstyle, all par, etc. Good huntiung, and good choice.
always remember the weakest link in a Mopar is any GM part.
