'39 Chevy Taildragger build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BigO, Mar 10, 2009.

  1. Started this sometime ago and then had Zombie do a drawing of the finished car (it was posted in one of the Friday Art Shows). So here is how it looks so far. The frontend gets a LaSalle grill and '39 Ford headlights turned upside down and '41 Studebaker tail lights a Carson style top as well as many other changes. I'll try to keep this thread updated. Thanks for looking, Michael :D P.S. Maybe Zombie will repost the Artwork he did for me of this car.;):D

That will be wicked looking when finished.

  9. Thanks Hotdamn. And yeah Memphis Art, I thought the reversed headlights would give it more of the Artdeco in motion look.

    What color?????, suede blue ????,,,,,,

  11. So far I'm thinking Maroon. The car will be made up of mostly pre-49 parts, so the color needs to be from that peroid.

Your 39 is so cool. What are you going to use for front suspension? Are you going to leave the stock dash in? Thanks for posting that will be a great car when you are done.

  17. Yummy!

Come on man, summers right around the corner. You need something to roll in.

Rad Mike! This is the first time I am laying my eyes on it and I can't wait to see it in person.

Zombie, rendering is flat out amazing. Inspiring to say the least.

  19. very cool...I love me the taildraggers!

    Killer artwork Zombie

  20. That is absolutely beautiful!!! I can't wait to see it completed!!!!

  21. Thanks Zombie for posting your work. As far as front suspenison, the car is a Master 85 and had a straight axle, But I found out from a friend and fellow HAMBer (Tommy "39 chevy Kustom") that the '39 Chevy Master Deluxe had IFS from the factory and sold me the one he had taken out from under his car. So IFS it is, he also sold me a nice set of running boards too. I'll be keeping the factory dash and will be running a '39 Ford Banjo wheel. The skirts are orgianl skirts from the 40's I got and an estate sale.

What's your timeframe one this one Mike? Are you going to be hitting it heavy once Dustin's car is out of your garage?

Nice. Never thought I would see a 39 Coupe that low in the rear lol.

Mine is FAT. Course then mine is just a driver.

Keep on trucking with it. Nice work with the hood. Like a 40 Ford, getting them to fit right all over the chore.
