What's a fair price for this car? 39 Chev, missing trans and complete interior Any help/advise is greatly appreciated
there was one in my area a (39) in about same shape he was asking 10.000 dont know if he ever sold it but thats what he was asking
Fair price....for the buyer of the seller? If I was buying I'd offer a handfull of dead presidents like $5k worth cash. If I was selling, that wouldn't get it done. '39 Chevy is my favorite for a bowtie and so is the model. Good Luck
I agree, buyer and seller prices are different. Just trying to get a fair price for both. Something that a buyer would say "that's a fair price" and a seller would too Obviously we'd all like to pay $5k for it but what's the fair price for both parties. Thanks
To the right guy 10 grand all day long assuming no rust, good chrome, not all smashed to hell where you cant see it.......
whats he asking? Always get the seller to start with a price... He may be expectin 2 and you offer 5k... Or the other way around he may be expecting 20k and 5k would just be an insult that you just walk away on rather than insult them.
A core trans for this, a correct one, can be had for next to nothing. They had that vaccuum-assist deal on most of these, which didn't work that well when it did work. But I think any 54-back trans can be swapped in there, and the last good 49-54 trans I had sold for only $75 or so. So I don't see that taking anything away from the value really. I mean, I have a core trans that came in a super rough '39 I bought for the roof and I can't give the damn thing away.
That looks like a really nice car, do you know anything about the engine? How nice is the paint? Looks like it has a transmission in it to me.
As it sits, not running but in that nice of shape, I'd say $10K, maybe 12 if the mods are done nicely and there isn't damage where I can't see it. With a motor and trans installed and driving, and with interior, should be a $25K car pretty easily. Very pretty.
So I assume that since it's on a trailer, that you came up with a price? Personally I'd be more concerned about what was done to the front suspension than a lame transmission.
Thanks guys, obviously there was some misinformation from the get go. I was told it was all original and that it didn't have a trans, but that's irrelevant now. It's a 327, mustang front end w disc brakes. From under the car looks like it was a frame off. Paint is about 6 years old when the original owner died and was in the middle of fixing up. Rust free car and all steel. That's a roll off dumpster truck w a flat bed.
