Didn't have the light blue one long, did ya. I looked at the car Saturday, called Monday to make an offer and it was sold. Guess I know where!

Done right for sure. I always go back and forth whether to run a hood or not, I'll see the McCoy 40 and say hood then I'll see this thing and say hoods are for suckers!

Got to have my current 39 sedan finally meet the 37 sedan that I built many years ago. Rather interesting to listen to the stories they were telling! That's the chassis for the 39 that sports a BluePrint 355 Chevy (400hp), Monster Transmission turbo 350, Currie 9+ rear end.

  14. genosslk I like the way the exhaust is run on the right side of the frame. Inside the frame rail. But the left side is it it run to the engine also ? I have a 39 and the exhaust runs under the frame in front and I hate it. Any help on the exhaust would be appreciated.

I run without a hood now for 8 years and still wonder if I should put it on. It is good to have a choice.

Grumpy's Hot Rods....... I used block hugger headers with 90 degree down pipe into a stainless flex pipe and then used Speedway's universal 21/2 inch mandrel bend kit to build the rest of the system. I also used stout hanger brackets so the system would not be banging against the frame and crossmembers. All the engine movement is absorbed by the flex pipes. I have built 5 systems using this method and have never experienced and noise from contact to the chassis. Works great. Here are a few more pictures. I hope you can see the details.

This is my 40 deluxe at the customs warehouse the day it landed.
It's currently sitting with out an interior as I tidy up some odds and ends before it goes off to rancho deluxe to have a dropped axle put in with new reverse eye posies in the front and rear and a tyre change.

  21. I have to say the first version was the best in my opinion. Not digging the fenderwell treatment on the second version.

OK, the copper version is a little much and I definitely cant get behind these sickle nerf bars but the original version is still pretty sweet.

Gonzo, thanks for these pics! I always had the image of a 40 sedan with no hood as my Uncle drove his car like that a few times and it was always burnt into the back of my mind as Cool! :) I also like the bumperless 40's as well. You guys have some nice 39/40's!!!

  25. Gonzo included a B/W shot of McCoy's '40 in the first posting in this thread, but here's how it was on the cover of Hot Rod's '58 Annual.

Felix, that is a beautiful 40! How long did it take to get that front sheet metal to fit so nice? It looks perfect!

  29. That looks way cool. C'mon, next thing is to paint the McCoy flames on it to complete the look!
