Looks good to me, I like that nose down stance. Do you have a plan for drivetrain? What's the details on the suspension work?

I managed to achieve this with a 3” dropped axle, extended shackles and reversed and dearched springs. I’ll need to drive it for a bit and see if I’m satisfied with it but looks alright IMO. 1C36F1AB-07F7-4602-92B2-132CEBA3D5D8.jpeg

Yep - I building this for my wife, and it's my first Pre-1960 build! We intend to get a small tear-drop trailer, hook it up, and hit the road once it's complete.

As a kid I had pictures of Moreland's sedan on my wall. I'd love to build one like it, but this one's for her. That said, I am planning a mild Ford 302, AOD automatic and a 9 inch. I probably shouldn't mention my suspension upgrades as some on here may get a little fired up.:D Let's just say I want to make it easy for her to drive and handle well. ;)

In the end, I want it to have the right "look", with the drive-ability she'll appreciate.

    Thanks!

Haha, yeah gotta be careful around here. I love the Jerry Moreland sedan but it is slightly off topic for this forum...or so I’ve been told by the folks that delete my posts when I share pictures of it. Legendary car none the less and great inspiration for a build. I’m way too cheap to build anything that nice unfortunately.

    Thanks Gonzo.

In the spirit of Hot Rodding, I'm building it myself with the help of friends and I think the final product will have the look most on this site will appreciate. If I never show pictures of the chassis, most wouldn't know.

Who knows...maybe I can still talk her into the blower! hehehe

BTW - Love the look of your ride!

@EARLYMOPAR Did you use an adapter to mate up to the 389 to the Ford transmission or run something else for that? I'm assuming the 389 fit as well as a Chevy small block. Also, did you fabricate mounts or?

    I've got a 326 I'm thinking would be real nice to put in a '39 or '40.

Actually I bought the car with the 389 already installed so don't recall what adapter or mounts were used. Installation at that time was most often done by fitting an adapter between the OEM engine mounts on the frame and engine. Yes, the 389 fit well and looked "right" under the hood.

    Thanks my man!

I did not build the car but did adjust the rear ride height. Dropped axle/reverse eye spring on the front and adjustable coil overs installed on a banjo on the rear.
Here is a pic of before I moved the coil over mounting point. Cool stance but I like it with a little less rake.

I love this car. The interior and white fender welting against the chrome reverse wheels. So good. Do you ever run it with a hood?

I never run it with a hood. I doubt i ever will, even though I've got a hood for it. I've got another '40 sedan body that I'd like to build as a late 50's/early 60's custom. I'll put a hood on that.

Love the stance. What sizes of wheels/tires are you running? Thanks!

Do you have any information on the owner or details on the car. I'd love to see some more pictures.
