Has anybody used the available lower door patch panels for 38-47 ford pickups? Are they nice or should I just fab my own? Any tips? There is very limited room to work the weld in those doors!
From what I remember, there are two different ones - a partial that has a slight inner piece (Howell's may be?) and another with a more robust inner piece (Classic Northern Trucks). Hopefully someone can chime in and correct me if I am wrong and whether or not Northern is still selling them ....
Picture of what you're working on? I've done '35 and '36 doors by slicing out the bad area, knocking out the lip...then used my brake to form a lip, then used my shrinker to make a "curve" to match, all butt welded from the outside, cause I'm lazy...it was such a slight curve to make, welding on the inside would have saved some clean up time.
