37-39 Chevy Transmissions- School me please

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by brian26, Mar 21, 2010.

  1. I am trying to find one of these tranny's for an enclosed driveline for the car in my avatar.

What year did these tranny's interchange with? I know there were toploaders and column shift models, and either one would do.
I'll be at work all day without a computer- so I'll check back tonight.
    Thank you,

'37 '38 '39 car transmissions are casting no 590822. Commercial application 3 speed is casting # 590874. They may be the same length but have a different bolt pattern to the bell housing. They are the only years that used these castings. The car one was used for both floor shift and column shift. It is only about 9" long. As far as I know all other years are a different length.
