Hey guys, back in the eighties pro street movement I bought a super nice all steel bbc, '37 chevy coupe with a '38 nose for little money....I always had it in the back of my mind to turn it around for profit or make a beautifull/killer gasser out of it someday....well I still have it....so, please start posting all the '37/'38 chevy gasser pics you can find...as I'm planning to hunt parts for the build in the near future...Thanks,John
here is freds (gasserdriver) right here on the hamb. real deal 37 gasser was and is a real gasser from the day and races with us in the central state gassers assoc. in okla kool old chev..bbc, 400 turbo willys frt axle olds rear . runs 10.70's
here is my fathers car that ran B/GS here in the sf bay area 1n 63/64 it ran a blown 394 olds w/ a hydro and a 62 olds rear . and of course mag kidney beans ran a best of 10.36 @138mph sold in 64 and destroyed a few years later. me and him are hopeing to have our nut and bolt clone finished by the end of summer. its been is process for like 10 yrs now. damn thoes 40hr a week jobs.
I seems a shame to take a perfectly nice car and cut...... WAIT!!! What am I saying!!! GASSERS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, I'm not a gasser fan, but I seen this car at the HAMB drags last year and it is very neat to look at. Very wicked looking car.
If you decide to gasserize your '38 don't do it half azzed. I've seen too many ex pro-street Willy's with a straight axle added but they keep the lowered tubbed rear end with the tires tucked inboard. Looks like a scalded dog running away with it's tall between it's legs. They look like crap. Put a full width rear axle under the car and raise that rear end about 4-5 inches.
The 37 chev K-L AUTOMOTIVE AND OLD MASTER are the same car it has been in storage in petaluma it is still the same OLDMASTER. COMPLETE . I am trying to find out more.
this car is almost a dead ringer for the one my Dad had until he passed away in 2004. Same rear traction bar mount and height, ours was always in primer but have no clue as to the condition of it when he got it in the late 60's.
Here is another pic of the 37 at the HAMB drags last year. It has a A-1 fiberglass front end, one off fiberglass doors and the original fiberglass trunk lid was missing when I got it in 96 so I purchased one from superior. Fred
These were just posted by photographer Forrest Bond on Byron's Gasser Madness site. There's a nice collection of new photos up there. Dan
