After 80 years, my 1936 Ford coupe gas tank has given up the ghost.
    I've ordered a new tank from TanksInc.com
Is there a way to get the old tank out and the new one in without lifting the rear of the body?

It will come out. Just completely unbolt it and shove it all the way to the driver's side and up and then the edge on the passenger side should JUST clear the frame... might have to do some aggressive pushing and likely remove the original filler neck. It is close but it will come out... I had serious doubts when I attempted the first one but you can do it.

    Patience is the key.

    Keep workin'

I can get the tank I bought from Tanks out with the body on, but just so you'll know, the location for the pick-up and the sending unit isn't in the stock position, at least it isn't on my 3W.

I don't think I need the stock position for the sending unit. I bought it with the in-tank fuel pump for the LS2 I'm running.

  6. Like Hamtown Al states, but I used a long flat ended pry bar to push it a little further to one side . Practically fell on my chest as it effortlessly crashed down.
    Piece o cake job.
