Projects 36 ford custom build (MISS SCARLET)

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by kippers 34, Jul 5, 2013.

  1. I have never done a build thread before so bear with me. Years ago My boss acquired a 36 ford shell along with several complete 50's fords. I knew he would never put the money needed to repair the 36 into it so I stuck it on top of a room in the back of our shop and covered her up. Out of sight out of mind. I then spent the next 5 or 6 years ( don't remember exactly ) convincing him he wanted to sell her to me. After we came to an agreement she sat a couple more until I was ready to start. So one Saturday I cleaned out the wood room so I could get the forklift in and pulled her from her hibernation.[IMG]

  5. The first time she has seen the light of day in about ten years. She is missing fenders, grill, interior, etc. Someone in the pest had started to strip her paint and then let her sit in the rain so there is lots of surface rust but a pretty solid start.

  9. The plan is to build a late 40's custom using as many parts as I can that are original 49 and older . She will have 39 ford pedal assembly, Steering box, and tranny. 40 ford deluxe dash. 47 Chrysler steering wheel. 37 Desoto bumpers. 41 buick skirts. 39 Lincoln backing plates. 8RT flatty. etc

    Awesome!!!!

Glad to hear you're building a late 40s custom, it suits these cars so well.

Make sure you pay attention to details and you'll end up with a killer custom :)

  16. ^^^^One more here! Ya can't beat early customs, especially the '36 model...

That's a cherry body to start with and you've got a good combo of parts, at least in your head. LaSalle grille and '41 Stude tail-lights would nail it... (Your first group of pics look familiar; did you post them in another thread?)

  17. I don't think I posted these elseware but I am farther along than these pics so you may have seen them. All parts listed are already collected except rear 39 Lincoln back plates ( if anyone has a set I would be interested). I have a 39 nash nos grill but i'm torn between nash and stock.

That's a great looking body !! I'd love to see all the pics you have.

I'm in the middle of my rebuild, but I always get involved with the work and completely forget to take pics of it.
