After asking plenty of questions, getting lots of answers and then talking to my builder again i now know my sbc is going to be built as a 355 with a tri power intake topped of with 3 Rochester's...now for the final question, what transmission to use ?
I know plenty of people use auto boxes but here in the uk all i have ever driven is with a 5 speed box and would like to do the same for my rod. So a big no to an autobox. So can i ask what 5 speed boxes are people using with their sbc's please. I know the t5's are popular.
    Thanks

Both the T5 and the T56 are very popular.

T 5 is popular in the states becauseits available and cheap, but you can't treat it harshly, if you're importing it i'd say a T56 or a TKO500 then you'll have no worries

I was told this about the T5 that you have to be gentle, so if this is the case then it's out of the question for me.

If you've got some dough to spend Speedway Motors has a Tremec TKO-500 5-speed listed for $2195.99 that handles up to 500 lbs. of torque.

    I ran a Richmond 6 speed. 3:27 first gear and a .76 sixth gear.
