Alright folks, it's time. I've had this truck about 6 years now, and have done precious little in the way of improving it. I did disassemble it though... mostly.

Here's the thing - I entered a road rally to Alaska in August of 2018 with a recent build, a '69 Torino, that I just sold. So, no rally car. But I have this truck sitting around, and I've been meaning to start/finish it, so what better time than now? It does run, and lot drive, but it has very little going for it otherwise. Follow along as I attempt to get this done!

What's all that clear stuff coming up through the doors and in front of the driver?

Ya, had a few of them;)

And we have updates! I got the truck in the garage, after hanging some lights, building a workbench, and putting up some shelves. Now I can finally get to work.

Got the cab off the other day with some help, now to get this rolling chassis driving!

Oh hey! Can anyone tell me where this frame comes from? I know it's been fabbed, but I have no idea who might have done it. Real good quality though.

Today I got the rear end out along with associated parts. Now to clean them up a bit and get them to the powder-coat guys. I'm also planning on using the '35 radius rods with the late Columbia 2-speed, so I'll have to fab some brackets for that.

Update! I've been busy, despite my lack of showing it here... got the rear radius rods all cleaned up and shiny, same with the torque tube. I'm currently working on adapting the '35 rods to the '46 ish Columbia with its larger axle diameter.

Got some more things done! Rear driveline pieces are ready for powder coat. Columbia internals look real good aside from one gear that's a bit pitted, and front end is mostly apart.

I'm going to need some new shock mounts though. I had to mangle mine to get them out, so if anyone has a line on a good set, let me know!

Tires are off and wheels are ready for blasting and painting. Took the front end off too, and boy are those axle perch bolts stuck! did a lot of heating and hammering to no avail, so my buddy Tom took the whole thing up to his dad's shop and got it disassembled.

I got some things done this weekend in the cold. Engine and trans are out, and some small parts are at the powder coater. Since I have a manufactured frame, I measured all the holes and such, and found that I'm missing a couple, so I'll have to add those in.

Also, I found that the front crossmember (and thus my motor mounting position) is flush with the frame - correct for '39 and later I believe - and I need it 1" under the frame rails, so I cut that out and will be modifying and reinstalling this week.

I'm following your build as I'm just starting on a '35 PU project.

I did some work this weekend fabricating trans mounts and welding them in. Planning on using a rubber spacer to mount, not unlike the front engine mounts. I've got the rest of the frame pretty much sorted, so I think it may be time to clean and paint!

Trans mounts are in and welded and such, and the wishbone and front axle are off to get prettied up with some powder coating. I drilled some holes and test fit the tank yesterday.

Well gents, I’ve been getting a little work done over here, namely finishing the frame mounting points and getting the axle housing tubes machined and repaired.

Took the frame in this week for blasting and powder coating, along with some small parts. While I’m waiting to get it back, I finished mounting tires. The traditional way...

Got a special delivery from North Dakota by way of Illinois this weekend. Now the real fun begins!

Also, shop dog. She mostly just gets in the way and dirty. Hard to keep from petting her with greasy hands...

Hi - Enjoying your build. I also have a frame to get powder coated in the near future. Do you mind sharing the cost of blasting and powder coating your frame so I, and the rest of the HAMB, can have a budgetary price against which to compare the pricing we get locally?

    Thanks
