So since I bought a 39 Merc that's at Sledge Customs for a beautiful top chop and full traditional custom makeover (watch for build thread to start real soon!) I thought I'd change the 35 from a taildragger to a hot rod. I'm much happier with the hot rod look with the original roof line.
It can go back to taildragger in an hour just by putting the coilovers in the lower location, putting skirts on and swapping on the whitewalls and hubcaps. Best of both worlds any time I want.

  2. I dig the hot rod look! You're right, they're better suited as hot rods with the stock height roof.

some look best as a Custom, some as Hot Rods - you are on the right path going the Hot Rod route

Wow...wasn't expecting 100% hot rod. Really digging the new look. It's like I just bought it all over again.

I've never liked the tail dragger look on '35's and 36's. You've nailed the hot rod look!

    Wow. So much anti-custom sentiment.
I like both of the looks.
    Great looking car.
You’re lucky to have a vehicle that looks fabulous both ways and be able to change it as you like.

I liked it better as a Custom, style and class. That as a Hot Rod, meh & I am more into Hot Rods than Customs.
