I got the rear shock mounts cleaned up and put on today. Then with the help of some people I got the body back on. Then I had to put the fenders, grille and running boards on just because I couldn't resist. I sits pretty good. In the end the back will come up a little with a 16" wheel and a taller tire.

I am sure many know better than me so take it or leave it but I would like to see some plug welds through the draglink on the shaft further out from the splice seam as some added insurance. Looks great though keep goin'.

Enjoy seeing every udpdate, keep going and posting, love the build.

  17. Great thread and a very cool build. Tom, maybe we can have Gene and Carla put the Hot Rod Institute on the schedule for the Reliability Run next May so all of us can see it. Keep up the good work, it is going to be one very nice Hot Rod!

I won't be at the Institute anymore during the Reliability Run. I work for Gene and he has been helping me out with the door and some other stuff. If I get the chop done at school the car might be at Gene's for a while because he said he would help me lead it.

  19. It would be great if we could see your car and meet you in May if you have it at Gene's shop.
Tell Gene that Jerry says "Hi from Prescott!" (You can tell him the weather is still great down here!)

Looks KILLER Kellan........hope the front doesn’t come down to much when the flatty is installed.

Hey Jerry, they had the HRI on one of the runs a couple years back when you and I missed . I have since toured the place but don't see why we couldn't do it again.

Say Hi to Bill Vinther from Tom and Char if you run into him down there.

Kellan, if you ever need to do this again I have the right hand tap and access to a lathe to do this. That way no welding is needed. All you need to do is cut off the right hand side to the proper length, mount in the lathe........drill out ( if necessary ) and tap.

The flathead and tranny are in it already. The flatty that is in it right now is probably even a little heavier since the one going in will have aluminum heads and intake. This one I did for the pu will probably go in.

This Christmas my dad gave me some leftover parts from his '36 which included inside door handles and window cranks and a rearview mirror. He also gave me an original ash tray that he bought out from under me. Thanks Dad. Back to class tomorrow. Time to start on the body.

Haha I thought I was never going to get this one because I made an offer on it and through a middle man and he came back saying the guy didn't want to sell it since it is rare to find one. What actually happened was my dad got a hold of him and bought for what I offered and then gave it to me for Christmas.
