Projects 34 drag truck build

Update 9-12

I got some more progress done on the 34. I'm halfway to a roller. The rear end and axles are done. I made the radiator mounts. While waiting for the housing ends to be welded on and the axles to come in, I got some more patching done on the back panel of the cab. Now I need to get my front wheels machined to accept the bearings and do the finish work on the front suspension.Then I can officially call it a roller. I'm off to Summit today to get my header flanges and u-bends to start my headers. Anyway here's a couple of pics.

I know my front spring is too long that's also on the front suspension to do list.

 

I just wet my pants! Let me know when that truck is done and for sale. I WANTZ EET!!!!

Thanks guys, I would love to go HAMB drags next year. I don't know if will be track ready next year but street ready for sure. I forgot to say I got the finish welding done on the chassis.

The truck looks good. I thave been on the fence on how to build my 33 and this is simmilar to one of my ideas. Look forward to more progress and a running truck. I have to see the cage in when you get it gone.

This thing is pretty wild. Great work.

 

I've been talking to the chassis builder who is going to be building the cage. He swears to me that we tuck the cage right up to the sheet metal and make it cert. Right now with the seat about 2" of the floor I don't seem to be too cramped. It should be at his shop in about a month or two so I will keep this thread up to date. I just want to give credit to Jeff Norwel for the Diamond Deuce and Littleman"s A pickup because both of those trucks are a big influence on mine.

I can do a small update. I'm waiting for a friend of mine to machine my front wheels to fit the spindles.So while I'm waiting for my wheels I started on my headers. They're just tacked still need to finish welding.

Thanks Don, I can't believe how much quicker the truck is coming together. I hope to see you at Thompson next year. The goal right now is to drive to the Gasser Reunion.
