thanks for the pics, 33hemi the guy has documentation on the car with history.. he said they made less than 200 in 33-34 and the 35-36 had the same body other than the front clip.. the 33 had wood framing, and he has changed his to metal, it has the correct dash and windshield for a 33..
Weasel is the Willys expert on the HAMB, I doubt you will find anyone on here with more knowledge. Especailly when it comes to stockers. The Willys looks way beyond restoration as far as taking it back to original. Looks like a great start to a Dog Catcher clone tho.
There is a Willly's collector here in town. Makes hot rods out of all of them. He has been looking for a delivery for years and so far not a single candidate has surfaced. There is a glass one that sports a SBC running around and it's the ugliest abortion you could imagine. When I first moved here in 1962 there was an origonal one in a small yard with a tree growing up through the hood that just disappeared one summer. The yard was so small that we didn't check very often and the owner was a real bastard to get along with. We stopped by one day just out of boredom and it was gone. The owner just grumbled something about it going to Canada and that was the last of it. Frank
Only 258 Panel Deliveries were built for the 33-34 Production of Willys commercial vehicles. The company was in receivership and struggling to survive. Key to identifying the earlier panels is sloped hood and 4 louvers at rear of hood sides. So, to answer your question, RARE?, heck yeah. In 35-36 the hood was straight and the side panels had 5 vent bubbles(35) and 5 louvers(36). Production all trucks (pickup and panel delivery) in 1935 was 2280, in 1936 2441. There seems to be no split between bodies production information available for these years.
This is a 35 Willy 77 Panel Delivery. The 33-34 have a sloped hood and 4 louvers on each hood side panel.
