I know this is a weird one, but has anyone done this? I have a really nice 33 coupe coming into the shop and the guy wants to keep the original engine & trans, or a replacement trans that would work.

I'm not at all familiar with the back side of this engine to know if we could possibly do a 5 speed swap or if the back or the block is totally queer.

HAMBer Normbc9 knows old Chevys. Shoot him a PM. I'm sure he can tell you all about it.

Hopefully Normbc9 will be able to give you some pointers. As far as I know, there isn't any modern trans that will simply bolt up. I thought I remembered someone here on the HAMB adapting an s10 trans to a '29 but I didn't see it in a quick search. Maybe I didn't use the right terms; you may want to give it a try. Good luck. -dave

  5. You could use a Toyota 4Runner rear- same width and bolt pattern as early Chevy (if it's a 6 lug pattern).
