Start collecting the rest of the parts you need to build a cool old style hot rod! It would be interesting to know the story behind your find, hopefully you can dig up some info on it. Good luck with the project.

This is the crusty chassis that was under the 34 five window I bought recently. Have the chassis completely apart now, including the frame. Takes a while to grind out all those rivets, but that is the only way to get the frame completely apart so the individual pieces can be sandblasted. In the past I have welded 34 Ford frames back together, but with this one, I want to try riveting it, as several others have done here. IMG_0668.JPG

The chassis came with a lot of the original parts - clutch and brake pedal, emergency brake lever, rad supports and a few other parts that are saveable. Will be putting the frame together soon and making a roller to mount the body on. Will post pics as I go. IMG_0670.JPG

Doesn't look too crusty to me... Looks like a nice start!

Thanks, Eric. Going to take some holiday time from work soon and spend it working on this coupe. Hope to make some real progress then, going to keep the chassis basically stock with hydraulics - bought a complete front end and rear end recently out of a 50 plus years of storage. It was a lucky find and will make this one a roller real fast.

  9. I re riveted my whole frame, it went really well.
    Some pics on my instagram.

  18. I would recommend talking with Andy, he is building this right (<<click there) now for a customer. He is very competent and has already put together a 34 last year

    And he also built this

And he is fairly close to you, in central PA

I brought this poor old race car body and, another cowl home last weekend. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I might try to piece it together if I can find some doors.

IronFord - that is what this thread is all about - finding rusty, roached 33-34 Ford coupe bodies and saving them. Yours is a tremendous find, thanks for telling us about it.

Jared - I think you are right, it looks to be a 33 three window coupe.
