I think it's so tough to tear a car apart that you've been driving it for a while. Like moving backwards with no forwards in sight. But we need you to keep moving, cause we know the final product will be so much more.

(PM me your paint code for that green if you would. I'd like to use it on the accent parts of a car.)

  2. Great job on this truck. I am so glad i found this thread as I lost the first one. I am using this truck as a guide for the one i am doing. I have done the back of the cab and started on the doors and I just picked up a set of w/s posts and brace off a junk 31 roadster cowl. Thanks for the inspiration to keep going. Well off to the shop to start welding in some of the panels.

I don't have a paint code per say. It was custom mixed by eye to match the door off of my boss's 28 RPU. His rpu is 30+ year old lacquer...the color is supposed to be Ford Rock Moss Green...but who knows if they got it right when his rpu was painted back in the 70's.

Whether his color was correct or not...I just knew I loved the color. So I took the door off of his truck and we just mixed to match...and once we got it, I had 2-1/2 gallons mixed.

Here is an example of Rock Moss green I found on a Google Image searcg...and it looks real close...

and here is a link to Ford paint codes...

Keep us posted on your build...I'd like to see what someone else comes up with. As you know...it's no easy task to pull off. I looked at you albums and it looks like you are off to a good start.

My brother Mark and I attended the Metal Meet that was held in San Luis Obispo this last weekend. Even though we were only able to attend one day, we came away with a lot of great ideas.

The highlight for me was having lengendary tin man Paul Bragg spend the better part of his day working on my rpu doors.

The doors were rough, and I knew I needed some help. I took them along to the meet, hoping there would be someone there to get some pointers from. Paul did a Metal Finishing talk. The fender they supplied him with was a modern import replacement. He tried to do some shrinking and it wasn't working. He said he need some good old 19 gauge to work on...so I said I had some old Ford doors. I brought them in...and he proceded to perform some magic for all to see. As he said on the second door..."there is more door than we have day"...but he managed to get them to a point where I think I can finish the work. I learned so much watching him perform his magic...

We did have a great time and made a new friend. :)

Here's a little bit of Paul's work, if you are not familiar...

I never even paid attention to your RPU being cut PU. The Raw metal made me think it was a Brookville or some other reproduction. And I've been checking it out since it came on the cover.

Shit I want to make one. Do you mind?
