    good to know, thanks

  2. OK i have come to a decision. I am going to run the 34 rear end for now because its a bolt in application and my motor is a stock 21 stud with 80 hp on a good day. When the finances present themselves i will rebuild the motor with lots more hp and redo the rear end to the 36..

The common 32 rear does not have splines. It is a taper like Model A's.

4 cylinder rears are like that, the v8s rears have a splined pinion and drivesahft like the latter.

How about the early 32 rears with the round flange, are the 4 and 8 the same?

The round flange is the 4 cylinder, Model A type. The scalloped torque tube is the V8.

    Wrong!
All got the Model A style until late in production when they all got the later style with the straddle mounted pinion and splines.

The 32 4 and V8 tubes and shafts are identical . The 33-34 tubes and shafts were different between the 4 and the V8. This was accomplished by having the trans.mount. reversible so to accommodate the different lengths.

not true. it is early and late. i have 2 late '32 trucks with the 33-34 "style" rear ends from the factory, and they have 4 cylinders. my early '32 trucks have model A style rear ends with 4 cylinders also.

Great guys! Did I just read common rears & common courtesy in the same thread? The way to communicate for sure.
