This guys other projects have take priority while he trys to get a plan on chrome and finishing.... thanks for the compliment!

Thanks for the interest and nice comments!

These are lincoln wheels as far as I know, and as I was told, they came packaged and painted... I have no reason to doubt the guy, or think otherwise, but I could be wrong, I am no expert.

I STAND CORRECTED - Wheels were not painted when the customer purchased them, but primed and packged, sorry for the confusion...

They showed up at my shop blue...

Its back, and well... its black. Semi-gloss powder coat. We chose to powder coat for durability and the fact that it made coating inside the holes easy and efficiant. Some of the pictures came out a little fuzzy. For absolutely no body work being done, and all original rails and crossmembers, it looks pretty good. I didnt fill every nick, or smooth everything, I just gave it a once over and got it coated.

Now, ready for some chrome and assembly.

saw this mention of 'hudson steering' by nealin here and seeing you are doin about what i did in '58 for my 32 tub. I used the hudson box after finding one in a pile of steering gears at a local wrecking yard. Made the same kind of frame mounting bracket, don,t know what was used to weld it. I had it welded at local blacksmith shop.removed the stock middle crossmember, used a 50 merc crossmember turned upside down, Dropped 3" axle [$25] stock front bones, beefed 36, rear bones, NOS 'A' model front crossmember, F100 front shock mounts. But it was all home grown type work nothin like todays stuff, but you are on the right track with yours. hope i can get my deuce half as good as yours.

Thanks alot guys, its been a long road, on and off with this, but the customer, a good friend, stopped by today and said that he is going to "bite the bullet" on the chrome, which there will be ALOT of, so maybe be more progress soon.

Wow, as usual that really looks great! That will be a fun build for sure.

I couldn't imagine trying to spray paint & primer into all the areas with belled holes, etc. I stink at painting though:eek:

Powder coat does an amazing job at getting into every crevice.

Anxious to see an update, great work

    Dan

  20. I love looking at your work . . . always top notch, well thought out and unique. As a back-yard amateur, I'll probably never be at your level - just don't spend enough hours doing it (like TIG welding!) . . . but your work does inspire me to get better.

    Thanks!

    Dale

  23. AMAZING work. I saved every single picture to my computer to reference back on. Awesome stuff man...

  24. May have missed it. This is a long thread. What are you using to locate the front suspension; wishbone, split bones, hairpins?

Looks nice but i have reservations about powder coating chassis's as if it lifts anywhere rust will creep underneath, what are your thoughts ???

With such a nice chassis it seems a shame its not painted :(

This frame was blasted and very well prepped, so I am confident that it will be fine, as well as paint would be I think. I think if you have problems with powder lifting, you would with paint as well in the same scenario. We chose powder coating over paint to cover inside the rails with the belled hole boxing plates. This car will be driven, without a doubt, so that came into play as well. For now it will be built and ran as is, but the reveal may be painted to matched the body at a later date.

We will see. Thanks for your kind words though

Waiting on chrome at the moment, then the fun should begin.

I wasn't thinking bad prep but more chipping as it can chip like paint can, Looks great and is a credit to you,
