Went to see Henry today. He showed me what he has been doing on the hood and grill shell. He set the grill shell right down on the frame rails, down about 3/8 of an inch from normal. The grill shell was left uncut just lowered down. The frame rails are pinched in a little to fit the shell nice and tight. The front spreader bar is 3 1/8 inches from the ground. The one pic is the hairpins Henry is making for the car.

  11. Beautiful chassis and stance!

Just because you're using an SBC doesn't necessarily mean boring.
How 'bout a 427 SBC with aluminum block & heads? Maybe detailed to look like a mid-'60's 'Vette L-79??

  16. That is some very nice work to say the least.
Pretty much a flat front cross member with a mono leaf spring, is that a 5" drop axle also?
    Steadfast likes 'em low. Nice.

20170720_122225.jpg Stopped by Steadfast today to see what has been going on. Henry has the new cowl section welded in and has removed all the glass and wood from the inside to get ready for the chop. Not sure exactly how much the chop is going to be yet but his thinking is right around 3 1/2 inches in back and 3 3/4 up front. He wants to make sure the proprotions look right and not chop it super hard just to do it, it has to look correct. Another thing we talked about was the paint. The plan was to leave as much of the old laquer paint on and just match the spots that was needed. After looking at it there is not going to be much of the original paint left and it will be to hard to try to match it. What to do........do I try to get an old looking paint job? New shiney paint? What color? A flat color? Again what color. How about some suggestions from all the experts on here lol.

Dupont Pacific Gold Metallic. Same color as the "Confused pickup". Maybe HRP can post a pic for me. My desktop computer is broken.

Just getting ready to take my Black Satin chopped 5 window to the upholstery shop. Enough shiny paint for me. I also finished my 32 PU in the spring in Satin Cement Green, love it.

I sure wish you would post some pics. Thought about doing a satin or flat black but I want to do something different. I sure wish I could keep the old laquer paint with all the chips and scratches and cracks. That is what I want to do but I don't want it to look like a fake patina paint job. Henry knows alot of talented painters and he thinks one of them can pull off an old looking laquer paint job.

    image.png Skip the flat paint.
Single stage BLACK. In fact paint it with HOT ROD FLATZ paint....then polish it. This maroon 2 door owned by Mike in Tuscon (El Bombero on the H.A.M.B.), was painted with HRF paint and he didn't like how it looked so he polished it. The result is a not so much in your face shinny paint that doesn't have the mile deep look, that looks so modern. More of a vintage paint look.
Love the California hot rod rake!
What's the story on those Indy Roadster looking wheels?

  26. While we are throwing out colors,I'll offer the Kirker S.G. black it's low maintenance and holds up extremely well,no fading or chalking. HRP

Do magnesium and aluminum shrink at the same rate......if so how about a run of them in aluminum? Put me on the list.
